South Dakota. June. Wedding photography. Why, not?
Tony and I took a step out of our comfort zone to try wedding photography with our friends at Janea Smith photography.
We had a great time doing it even with some hiccups. The lens Tony wanted to use is only manual, with a really stiff adjustment ring no less. So on a borrowed camera with a broken lens he still managed to get some really great images (sometimes I wonder if he'll ever stop amazing me).
The Bride and Groom were hilarious, vibrant people which just made things that much better.
So we got to travel to South Dakota to do a wedding, but even more out of the box was the Maternity shoot i did two weeks ago. To be honest the shoot started off as a favor to my dear friend Lynn. I've never done portrait on my own. I really loved taking her photos. I swear being able to give someone images of a moment in their life they want to savor is a gift in itself. Plus, look at how photogenic she is. It was easy! I'm looking forward to taking photos of baby Lala soon!
What I took away from this summer so far is that with every new project we grow into better photographers. So what if people-based photography isn't our focus? I'll still give it the old college try. Who said you had to stay in a categorized photography box? Whoever did, I'd like to prove them wrong.
Thanks for sticking with us,.
