The trail to Isabelle lake is one of those simply striking journeys that one can take into the Colorado Wilderness. It's one of those trips that around every bend and past every boulder the view just gets more and more stunning.
My memories of this trail are filled with relentless and mighty wind gusts, turbulent precipitation changes, and moody moose. Which makes it even more exciting and interesting to photograph.
The couple of times we have taken the hike to Isabelle Lake and Glacier there have been very few, if anyone else sharing the route. The trail is moderate in difficulty if you choose to travel all the way to the glacier just due to length, elevation change, and slippery conditions at times. It's totally worth it though!
- 4.2 miles Round-Trip to just Lake Isabelle
- 8.8 miles Round-Trip to Isabelle Glacier
- Features waterfalls, pools, lakes, abundant wildflowers, moose, Indian Peaks views, views of the Front Range, and glaciers.
It's also a dog-friendly hike which makes it an instant go-to hike when we want to hangout with our friends with furry babies.
